Local context
Council’s local history entry says Henry F. Halloran designed Fishing Point with the Garden City movement in mind, and that the name describes a point with one of the best views of Lake Macquarie. A Halloran subdivision at Rathmines, declared on 1 December 1920, included Fishing Point Road. The 2021 Census counted 422 occupied private dwellings in the suburb, and 414 of them were separate houses. A house from the early subdivisions that has been extended since may carry pipework from more than one period, and a bathroom or kitchen renovation is when that tends to show.
