Toukley sits between Tuggerah Lake and Budgewoi Lake, and Toukley Bridge crosses the channel that connects them. At the 2021 Census it had 2,358 private dwellings; of the occupied ones, 70.9% were separate houses, 15.9% townhouses or semi-detached homes and 13.0% flats. Wyong Shire Council’s October 2010 Toukley Planning Strategy describes a mix of detached cottages, scattered dual occupancies, villas, townhouses and some three-storey units.
