Local context

Bolton Point: what to know before a plumbing job

Bolton Point got its name by mistake. Council’s history says the peninsula was once Boughton Point, then Broughton Point, then Boyce’s Point, and Bolton Point was a misnaming. The first subdivision there, in 1915, gave Bolton Point Road its name. Reticulated water arrived in 1938, and the Returned Soldiers Home that became the Macquarie Shores Retirement Community opened officially in 1955. If a house here predates the 1938 connection, it is worth tracing how its supply line was brought in and what has been replaced since.
