Local context

Croudace Bay: what to know before a plumbing job

Croudace Bay is named for Thomas Croudace, a mining engineer for the Scottish-Australian Mining Company, who bought 452 acres here in 1869. Council resumed the waterfront land that became Thomas H Halton Park in 1947, a special Act of Parliament in 1951 validated the resumption and subdivision, and in 1987 council decided to develop its own residential land as the Parklea Estate. The 2021 Census counted 220 occupied dwellings, 96.8% of them separate houses and none flats. Subsidence Advisory NSW’s map shows the suburb inside the Lake Macquarie Mine Subsidence District, where building or extending needs approval before work starts, and the plumbing for an extension follows that approval.
