Local context

Booragul: what to know before a plumbing job

Booragul’s post-war housing included the "Commonwealth Cottages", prefabricated in England and shipped out. During the Second World War the Defence Department had resumed part of the Quigley Estate for armed forces housing, and RAAF families lived in Gainford, Primrose and nearby streets. Some cottages were sold to the public, and the Housing Commission later acquired the settlement. Council’s entry gives 1929 for the water supply. If a house here began as one of those cottages, it is worth finding where original and later pipework meet.
