Local context

Whitebridge at a glance, for plumbing work

Coal mining began at Whitebridge in 1888, and council’s history says Burwood Colliery went on to have five shafts here, with workings that ran for a kilometre under the sea and as far as Gateshead, Charlestown and Merewether. It closed in 1982. The Glenrock plan of management says the New Burwood Colliery site became the Dudley Beach Estate. By council’s dates, town water reached Whitebridge in 1928 and sewerage followed in 1959. Subsidence Advisory NSW’s map puts Whitebridge inside the Lake Macquarie Mine Subsidence District, so an owner planning a new house or extension asks that authority for approval first.

Hot water replacement
My husband spoke with Josh the owner about our hot water service in the afternoon. By the next day it was installed and working. Great service. Great price. Very impressed.
