Early maps called the bay Pantaloon Bay, and the Geographical Names Board set the suburb boundaries on 31 May 1991. Myuna Colliery opened in 1981 to supply coal to Eraring Power Station. The NSW government’s Myuna Bay Sport and Recreation Centre was permanently closed in 2019, and removal of its structures was completed in late 2024. Council’s Myuna Bay Rest Area on Wangi Road has a playground, shelters, barbecues and toilets. The ABS publishes no 2021 Census figures for Myuna Bay because too few people lived there, so what a property here is connected to has to be established from scratch.
