Local context

Plumbing in Mount Hutton: the local picture

Mount Hutton is named after a Dr Hutton who lived near the distinctive hill behind the main road, and the Thriftdale Estate was subdivided in 1932. Mount Hutton Public School opened in January 1955, Lake Macquarie Fair opened in 1985, and council’s history gives 1948 for the water supply and 1964 for sewerage. The 2021 Census counted 312 semi-detached, row or townhouse dwellings, 21.6% of occupied homes. In a townhouse group, which pipes, hot water unit and meter belong to which home is worth settling before any work starts.
