Blocked drains in Blacksmiths

We clear blocked sinks, toilets and sewers in Blacksmiths with the jetter or the drain machine, and put a camera down a drain that keeps blocking.

In Hunter Water’s area the owner looks after the sewer pipes up to where they join Hunter Water’s system, including the boundary trap and inspection shaft. If the inspection shaft is full or overflowing, the blockage may be in Hunter Water’s main, so call Hunter Water on 1300 657 000 (24/7) first.

Local context

Blacksmiths: what to know before a plumbing job

Blacksmiths was Crown land that flooded in high tides and a big surf, so the council carried out a large amount of filling in 1947, and the first Crown land subdivision followed in August 1948. Lake Macquarie City Council’s local history gives 1937 for the water supply and 1961 for sewerage. Blacksmiths is also one of five suburbs in the council’s Local Adaptation Plan for future flooding and coastal risks, adopted in October 2021, which covers drainage and sewerage alongside sea level rise. A house built in the 1950s, before the sewer came through, is worth a look at how its drains meet the main.
