The Windermere Park Estate was subdivided in 1924 and named after Windermere, the largest lake in England. Streets named in 1924 follow a theme of notable people, among them Asquith Avenue, Baldwin Boulevard and Churchill Crescent. The Geographical Names Board made Windermere Park a suburb on 10 August 2001, and council’s history entry says reticulated water came in 1963. An estate subdivided in 1924 but without reticulated water until 1963 means an older house may have had its supply changed more than once, which is worth tracing before a renovation.
